Summary Of Annie Leibovitz

STYLE: Annie Leibovitz uses a variety of styles in her photography such as: black and white portraits, commercial, studio black and white portraits, group fashion portraits, her photo's don't normally involve dramatic angles she's quite simple in the way the camera is angled and set up. But she balances it with the dramatic outfit's colours and over all setting of the photo. By sometimes adding animals, brightly coloured costumes and also using photoshop to create some fairytale scenes (disney portraits).

TECHNIQUE: Annie Leibovitz uses artificial light in the majority of her photo's to let her have more control of the way the photo will turn out, and to get it just the way she had in mind. Also she take's a lot of CGI photo's such as the Disney portraits with the mermaids made to be in the sea and all blended together, also David Beckham on a horse playing the part of Prince Philip in "Sleeping Beauty", Annie Leibovitz made it look as though there was fire in the background when there really obviously wasn't.
But in Annie Leibovitz portraits she poses the model's very carefully to help portray there personality's and relationships with other's. Such as the Miley Cyrus portrait with her dad Billie Ray Cyrus, that photo really show's a lot about their relationship if looked at in depth.

NARRATIVE: Obviously in the Disney photo's Annie Leibovitz is trying to tell part of the story. So for example in the David Beckham sleeping beauty photo,he is being portrayed as a "strong knight" and she does this by using obvious positions for the models like the horse being up on two legs. And in the portraits I was talking about above, she again uses the model's posture, facial expressions and over all setting to show something about their personality and relationships with others. She like's the model's in the photo's to bring part of them into the photo's and letting them be themselves. Unless it's a commercial photograph where she has staged most of the model's herself.

My Photo's In The Style Of Annie Leibovitz

This is a photo I have taken of Eleanor Hepburn at comer, I think this has captured Annie Leibovitz style because the portraits she takes show something about the person in them, and my portrait portrays Eleanor Hepburn having a love for photography as you can see. And also the background is slightly out of focus like some of Annie Leibovitz photo's to keep your eye drawn to the main subject in this case the eye is drawn to the camera and then works it's way down to her hand and the strap wrapped around her wrist.
I have picked this photo on the beach because Annie Leibovitz has taken portraits of people at the beach before such as Scarlett Johansson(below)

This is a photo I took of James Steward, I have taken it in the style of Annie Leibovitz vogue photo's.
The Alice and wonderland photo's are mostly taken in a woods with lots of tree in the background that's why I havce chosen this scenery. There is also a photo she has taken with the light creating a outline around the people you can find that here - http://cdn.trendland.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/alice-in-wonderland-by-annie-leibovitz-7.jpg

Annie Leibovitz does lot's of Black and white portraits on dark sometime shadowed backgrounds, therefore the lines of shadow on the background.
And the subject is normally looking straight at the camera.
This photo is also in the style of Annie Leibovitz vogue Alice In Wonderland photo's.
I really like all of the vogue photo's Annie Leibovitz had taken, because I am also into fashion photography.
I have tried to capture the style of fairytale in this photo by wearing the animal hat with ear's. Annie Leibovitz does actually use animal's in her photo's a lot such as the snow white portrait, and also a vogue photo including a lion, which is why I thought this particular hat would be a good idea.

Annie Leibovitz-Scarlett Johansson

I have posted this because I really like the black and white effect of this photo that Annie Leibovitz has used. I especially like the way Scarlett's lips stand out against her rather pale face. I like all of the photo's Annie Leibovitz has done in black and white they are all really elegant and can't be faulted in the way they have been taken. I am going to try and do a black and white portrait in the style Annie Leibovitz.

Annie Leibovitz- Leonardo Dicaprio

I uploaded this photo simply because I think this is a beautiful photo of  Leonardo Dicaprio, it show's a very soft and gentle side to him. Annie Leibovitz created that feel by setting it in a simple black and white theme and placing the swan around his neck, with him holding onto it very comfortingly.
The simple background help's draw the viewers eye towards Leanardo. This can be seen as a good contrast example. And also an asymmetric.
This is another photo taken by Annie Leibovitz of Leanardo Dicaprio.
I like this photo because again it shows a soft and gentle side of him. Annie Leibovitz does this by placing a small harmless animal on his hand making him look observant and caring. She also uses subtle lighting to emphasis his hand and face.
Again she has used black and white for this photo which I like because I think if it wasn't black and white it wouldn't be a very effective photo. And the colours would end up drawing the viewers eye towards something different other than Leanardo's hand.

I created this slideshow myself on Annie Leibovitz it has references to her work with rolling stones and vanity fair and much more information about Annie Leibovitz herself.

I really like all of Annie Leibovitz work on the rolling stones, most of them are taken all in black and white which I like, it makes them look more old fashioned. I'd love to take some photo's like this myself. I would love to go on tour with any band just to get some experience of working with other people.
I also really like her photo of Demi Moore when she was pregnant I would think it is a very personal photo for Demi and has a lot of sentimental value to her. I would also like so take some photo's of young children such as my little cousin because photo's like that mean a lot when you are older.
Annie Leibovitz has a lot of celebrities in her Vanity Fair photo's which obviously made them more popular and more interesting to the public and the reader's of the magazine. I like all of the outfits used in the Vanity fair photo's,they are very creative and elegant especially the group photo's she had taken of people such as Julianne Moore,Jennifer Connelly, Jennifer Aniston,Diane lane and more.

Annie Leibovitz

Here is a photo I found on this site http://nobodyintheartworld.tumblr.com/post/3290855188/annie-leibovitz-a-photographers-life-1990-2005
I posted it because Annie Leibovitz doesn't feature in any of her photography so you wouldn't really recognise her. And I also like the overall look of the photo it look's very old fashioned and some of the background is out of focus drawing more attention towards her,the waiter, the man on the far left and the lady beside her.
